Phlox drummondii  is a well branched, sticky plant. It has varigated blooms of vivid colors (flowers white or pink, sometimes striped, including deep red and is a hardy annual. It is one of the first spring flowers to bloom in north Florida. Site requirements include hot, dry, poor sandy soil. Planting method suggests to thin turf, broadcast seeds over area, rake or drag to make contact with soil. Water occasionally until sprouted. Net weight: 15mg. Packet will seed 100 sq ft. Sow in fall for spring blooms. North Florida ecotype.

Many purists of the native plant industry do not consider Drummond Phlox to be a Florida native. It is thought that drummondii migrated east from Texas where it is considered a native wildflower. However, this seed originated from a north Florida source and therefore called a north Florida ecotype. Native or not, Drummond Phlox is one of the public's favorite wildflowers.
